      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 12 months. I interviewed at Lockheed Martin (Sunnyvale, CA) in Jul 2009

      Interview

I originally spoke with a rep at a job fair on my college campus. I was invited to the following info session on campus, and then I was invited to interview with the rep the next day. The on-campus interview was behavioral only. Following that interview, the rep indicated that there was a position I would fit well in and that the manager would be interested in me. I followed up after no position was opened, and I was told that the opening would be created in a few months. I then followed up after that didn't happen, and I was told that there was a hiring freeze on for college level positions. I gave up on the possibility of working for LMC after I had not heard anything for a few months. However, after about 4 more months I got a call from the previously mentioned manager asking me to come in for an on-site interview, since the hiring freeze had been lifted. I filled out the large packet of paperwork for the security and background check (took me about 2 hours) and I met with the manager two days later. The interview seemed more like a sales pitch for the position, and the manager told me that he would work up an offer for me in the near future (he also said that I should tell my current employer that I have received interest, implying that I should be ready to give my 2 weeks notice). I waited three weeks, then I followed up with the manager. He said that he put in the request to send me an offer with HR two weeks prior. When asked about this, HR responded that there was a hold on hiring and all positions would be reviewed prior to any offers being sent out. The position remained 'open' (according to the website) for about 2.5 months before it was canceled (again, according to the website...LMC did not tell me). I assume that I never will get the offer that I was told to wait for. My impressions are that the hiring process is extremely slow and bureaucracy can often get in the way. In addition, the recruiters will often tell you they are interested, but they really don't have any power/information when comes to actually getting you hired. I would recommend not to wait for LMC to make an offer, even after they assure you that they will make one. They might string you along for a long time, so continue to look for other work while you wait (like I did for a year).

      Interview

Was reached out to the other day and they asked me to fill out a few forms. I am still waiting on an interview date as of now but I will be reading more into the position, salaries, etc. Additionally, there are many locations for Lockheed Martin so I would ideally wan to work in a location that is near a larger city and offers me the ability to work with other skilled engineers.
