I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer in Jul 2015
Interview
From the start of the online interview process I knew that I would love to work for this company. You endure a 40-60 minute interview process where they are assessing whether you would be suitable for the job. You are then told straight away whether or not you are successful which I think is great as the waiting around in normal job application processes can be so disheartening. If successful, you are then able to book your slot online and mine was two days later.
In the interview itself you are told you will have a "role play" and are given sheets detailing all the information you need to know, look out for out of stock and the main theme of the sheets as they are what you will be asked, the next time the manager enters the room you have to act as though he/she is a customer. If you pass this stage you then move on to a set of competency questions.
I got offered the job there and then! Absolutely loved the interview process from start to finish - couldn't have been better executed or set out! Gives such a great first impression of the company. Relax, be confident and personable and you will be fine! Good luck.
(Remember to thoroughly research the company online, about them and there ethics and values - mention this when answering the questions and they will be impressed)

Question 1
Why marks and Spencer's? What do you have to offer that others don't? What do marks and Spencer's customers deserve?
Quite informal, mostly asking about my reasons for applying to them specifically - I recommend looking at their welfare and environmental status, and the fact that their brand is associated with higher quality food

Question 1
Why would you choose to work at M&S rather than at another supermarket?
I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (London, England)
Interview
Very chilled out interview with a few questions about simple stuff like what you would do in a confrontational event. Really nice interviewer, felt more like a chat than an interview.

Question 1
What would you do if a member of the public was being confrontational?
I applied online. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Glasgow, Scotland) in Jun 2026
Interview
The interview lasted about 40 minutes, with a lot of questions about how you have handled situations previously and why you are a good candidate for them. Overall, an average interview just come prepared with the latest news and up to date product knowledge of the company.
