I met first with the recruiter, and 2 weeks later had a Teams meeting with the hiring manager. Both seemed like good discussions. The hiring manager told me he felt comfortable telling me that he would be putting me through to the next round of interviews, which would be a panel interview with behavioral questioning. I did not hear back by a week later, so I sent a follow-up to the recruiter. Two entire months later, I received the canned reject email as if I had not even met with anyone. This has never happened to me before and I feel it is unprofessional. I wish they would have least told me sooner, and it was not the same canned email reply that candidates receive when their initial application is rejected. This is not a company that I would consider working for after this experience. Also, as a loyal customer to the Marriott family of hotels, I am not sure I will continue to be.
