Recommended by senior people within the company. Met the new head of account management. He had been there for a short while - several months. Friendly, easy conversation, not too structured but wanted to understand how I'd handle situations. Then met with HR. A bit more formal. I could do the job with loads of experience outside the country with huge names - did the role very successfully in the past with excellent reviews from managers. Loads of experience. The head (my boss) said "you could easily do my role" and laughed a bit. Didn't get the job....they offered it to someone internal. What a waste of time...just put me through the process to they could check off that they met with outsiders. This was a setup for sure to give their own buddy the role. How do I know? Small world...lots of people know each other and a few (not one) people told me exactly what happened.
