I applied for a Graphic Designer role and initially had a positive first interview. The team seemed friendly and the role sounded interesting.
After that, I was asked to complete a creative exercise which involved designing a full campaign (EDM, social assets, and rationale) within a short timeframe. After submitting, I was told it didn’t fully meet the brief and was asked to redo the project with a new direction, this time approaching it as a brand refresh.
This second request significantly increased the scope of the task, moving beyond a campaign into something closer to a rebrand, which required a considerable amount of additional unpaid work. I completed the revision and submitted it, but did not receive any feedback or further communication despite following up.
Overall, the process felt unclear and inconsistent, with shifting expectations and a lack of communication after a significant time investment.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Miss Amara in Oct 2025
Interview
I truly appreciated how the interview process was conducted. The tone was warm, genuine, and very respectful. It felt as though they were not just assessing my skills, but actually encouraging me to bring out my best and shine throughout the process. You can genuinely sense their care for people — from their customers and service partners to their employees and even aspiring candidates who wish to become part of their organization.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Miss Amara in Oct 2025
Interview
I interviewed with Miss Amara for a People and Culture role. The process itself was organised and professional, and communication was clear throughout.
The first stage was a recorded Zoom interview with someone who would have reported into the role, followed by another recorded interview with the COO. While I understand this helps streamline the process, it did feel a bit impersonal and made it hard to build a genuine connection or get a sense of the team dynamic.
I had actually withdrawn my application days beforehand because I had some hesitation around the travel requirement and didn’t want to waste anyone’s time, then two days later, I received feedback that the COO’s intuition felt something “was off” with me. While I completely understand the importance of cultural fit, I would have appreciated constructive and more timely feedback.
Overall, it was a professional process, but a more interactive interview format and constructive feedback would have made for a stronger candidate experience.
