First: an employer is entitled to set any expectations and criteria they wish for selecting employees. I don't want this to sound like I was treated unfairly. That said, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Know about the company before the interview. I've never had a problem going into an interview with little or no knowledge about the company - most interviewers WANT to talk about how awesome they are. This was not that. Because I hadn't spent extra effort preparing to tell the CEO what he already knows about his own company, he immediately ended the call. I could have gathered some information beforehand, and yes I should have. But I'm also glad that I found out quickly that this potential employer would expect me to invest extra time in the company that he wasn't willing to invest in knowing me.
