I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Outback Steakhouse (Champaign, IL) in Oct 2010
Interview
Interview process was informal. Fill out a paper application and sit down with a manager. I think I was interviewed and hired same day. There is a training process where you'll tag along with another server for a few days. Before you serve you will have to take a menu test.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There aren't any challenging questions. They want to know how you would handle customer concerns.
They will want to know about your personality to make sure that you are friendly and that you are a team player. If you are selfish you're not going to make friends in this industry and you will end up creating more work for yourself. You're going to spend a lot of time helping out at other servers tables.
They want to know that you'll get along with the kitchen.

Interview
Simple and easy interview process. I feel that i was asked the standard server questions. Please be sure to bring your updated resume. The asked about my availability and my experience in the industry. Some behavioral questions were asked of me as well.
Waste of time.
Everything is automated through AI and the system will mess up scheduling and then when we finally get an interview, they already have people hired. Was told I would receive an answer either way from AI and had to call the store to get my decline.
was very simple
asked me about my oast experiences and then I got hired
trained me well and made good money
it was pretty on par for any other server job ive had in the Past
