I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PayPay in Oct 2024
Interview
The interview process begins with a pre-screen test on CodeSignal, where candidates will solve 3 easy and 2 medium-level problems within 1.5 hours.
After the test, there will be a meeting with HR to discuss the entire interview process.
The technical interviews consist of two rounds. In the first round, candidates will be assessed on their domain knowledge, like Java concurrency, SQL, and NoSQL, which will last for 1 hour.
The second round is divided into two parts: the first part, also lasting 1 hour, will cover knowledge about Java, databases, and include a medium-level whiteboard coding exercise. The second part will involve system design questions related to payment systems.
Finally, candidates will participate in a behavioral interview with HR and a manager.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
HashMap and ConcurrentHashMap, HTTPS, ACID, the difference between SQL and NoSQL
Don't waste your time! Like many other comments, the interviewer's English was very poor. Even though I answered all the questions, I was still rejected in the end. The email replies and interview scheduling were very slow. It felt like they didn't really want to hire and were just going through the process.

Question 1
Design an e-wallet that includes 4 types of payment methods, with deductions made according to priority.

Interview
Interview process started with online coding assessment (4 problems, 70 mins). I would say it consists of 2 easy + 2 medium leetcode questions. You don't need to score perfectly to pass. If you pass, you will be invited to initial recruiter call to talk about your experience and role. Then goes into a series of elimination rounds: coding/LLD, system design, hiring manager(behavioral). If you pass all of them, they will invite you to offer meeting. The whole interview process takes about 2 months, but the process and steps are pretty clear. Overall it is a good experience.

Rounds:
Tech Round 1 Screening: I was asked to design my current aplication which iam working on went well.
Was invited for loop round which are 2 rounds and based on first they can cancel second.
Loop 1: Python related question, backend concurrency and distributed related questions and then there was one coding question not very tough. I was able to do, Interviewer seemed to satisfied and i was also positive that i will make this round.
Cut short just before 1 hour of loop 2 they cancelled and did not even tell why or what improvements i can do.
