I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Paylocity (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2019
Interview
Applied to the position online through their website.
Within 10 days the recruiter setup a 1 hour call to go through my background and experience. After the first call, another round was setup with the Chief Data Science Officer of the company.
They had asked me to send any code that I had on Github that we can walk through in the interview, I could not push anything in time for the interview. So, most of the interview was spent with a deep dive into my background and past projects.

Question 1
Explain in depth an interesting data science project you have done in the past.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Paylocity
Interview
Submitted an application online and heard back in 10 days. Recruiter was really friendly, we had a quick 30 mins phone screening and he clearly laid out what would happen next. Got invited to the second round with HM, we went over my resume and a project in the public domain, also a small data discussion. They sent the data discussion material beforehand so that you could review, Unfortunately I did not have impressive ML projects in the public side, plus incorrectly answered some statistics question, therefore unable to move forward. If things went well, would have gotten a timed 8-hour assignment and presented to the group. HR was fast and attentive in responding.

Question 1
How did you know that your sample size is small? What kind of data preprocessing have you done in this work?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Paylocity in Sep 2021
Interview
Applied online, received an email from the recruiter for an initial chat in 8 days. He gave me a nice introduction about the company and also got to know my interests. In 3 days he notified me that HM would like to schedule a chat. It was an hour-long technical interview. First 30 mins - walk-through an ML project (ideally in the public space) in detail, next 30 mins - small DS case study discussion. I was given the database schema for the second portion in the scheduling email. HM was attentive, but my ML project (built back in grad school) didn't seem to catch his eyes. If everything went well, the next round would be a full day-long timed take-home assignment (8 hours, once started you have to finish in one setting. It would be a modeling problem and you also need to finish a deck of slides for presentation), then you'll guarantee to have the final panel interview (2 hours) to showcase your analysis. Unfortunately, I did not pass the HM screen. Received the auto rejection email in 2 days. I felt the whole process was super efficient though.
