I applied through college or university. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Pegasystems (Bengaluru) in Oct 2020
Interview
I had applied through campus/university and there were 98 eligible candidates from CSE, ISE and ECE branches (8+ CGPA)
This was one of the best interview experiences I have ever had.
There were a total of six rounds, one aptitude test and five interview (virtual meeting) rounds.
The aptitude was conducted on Hacker Earth platform and consisted of 40 questions to be completed in 40 minutes, consisted of Java, C based questions and numerical/logical aptitude questions along with two comprehensions.
Out of 98 candidates, 43 cleared the aptitude and were eligible for virtual interviews on Cisco WebEx.
Round 2 (Technical 1) :
Questions included OOP concepts, Multithreading, Collections Interface and Inheritance from Java. Topics of Normalisation from DBMS were also covered and puzzles were asked. At the end, I asked relevant questions to the interviewer.
Round 3 (Technical 2) :
I was asked about JVM, Garbage collection and working of hashmaps in Java. More puzzles were asked and some questions were situational about working in teams. Again, at the end I asked relevant questions to the interviewer.
Round 3 (Managerial) :
I was asked about situations like working in a team, failing in life and how to deal with them. I was also asked about communication as a skill and how important it is for a team to function as a unit. I asked the interviewer about the work culture at Pega.
Round 4 (Director) :
This round was with the Director of Consulting, India. He asked me about my projects and we talked about a particular project for 20 minutes (technologies used, alternatives and use case). He asked me about my language proficiency in Java, Python and C as I had mentioned those in my resume. It was a very insightful interview as well as I got to learn a lot about the internal functioning of the company from the questions I asked him at the end.
This was an anxious wait as the last round was HR and only 13 people were left for the fourth round.
Finally 9 of us were selected for the last round.
Round 5 (HR) :
I was asked about myself, my parents and family background. There were questions on my experience at school, college and internships. Plus, I was asked about my strengths and weaknesses. I aksed the HR about how the company was coping with the Covid-19 pandemic and how it had affected their life personally.
We had to wait for a day for the results and finally 8 of us got the confirmation of our selection. The whole Interview process was amazing and the interview panel was very friendly and insightful. The best interview experience I've had at campus by far. Looking forward to work at Pega :)
Thanks Pega.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed response of your candidate experience, and welcome to Pega. This information is very helpful to future candidates to outline expectations and prepare for a successful interview.
