      Sales Representative Interview

      Dec 21, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Cleveland, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Pentair (Cleveland, OH) in Dec 2016

      Interview

Process was drawn out over 7 months. There was a bait-and-switch between the initial role and another similar role, but I decided to feel it out. I took hour long phone calls with 4-5 separate people within the department, and all went well. The in-person interview required me to complete a technical presentation of their product, and I took a vacation day to fly in. My flights were cancelled due to a winter storm, and I could not reschedule within the week leading up to Christmas. I woke up to an email saying I had been pulled from consideration due to my lack of interest in a very condescending way. Overall, the process was a joke. They continually asked for me to take time from my current job, continued to contact me on my work phone after repeated requests to use my personal phone, and after all of the time invested on my end, used a condescending email to send me on my way. If you are considering interviewing and see this pattern, I'd suggest moving on.

      Question 1

Most were in regards to personality, motivators, and past experience. Nothing too difficult if you have experience in interviews.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Pentair

      Interview

Spoke on the phone to HR and then 2 separate sales people. Both sales guys asked the "where do you see yourself in 5 years" question on the phone calls. 3 weeks later and I made it to an in person interview. First question they asked me: "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Really guys?? Did you both space out on our phone conversations or were you thinking you would get a different answer? Both interviewers were really unimpressive. 1 was a 20 something frat boy who had an ego that could rival our current President and the other had the personality of a cardboard box. Frat boy at one point decides to try and pick apart my resume by asking if the exact months of my employment was actually legit. Here's some interview advice frat boy-if you think a potential candidate's information is not legit, don't waste everybody's time and just not allow the person the opportunity for an in person interview.
