    Banking Center Supervisor Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New Brunswick, NJ
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Provident Bank (New Brunswick, NJ) in August 2016.

    Interview

The interviewer who was an extremely fast talker showed up to the location about 5 minutes before the interview was set to start and that showed in her unpreparedness. It was highly unorthodox and very little structure to the interview.

Within the first 10 minutes I knew I was overqualified for the job. I did some preplanning via her LinkedIn profile and research about the company. This threw her off and she even said, "wow, I see you did your homework." I also had my annual review from last year in which I was rated an exceptional manager. This was all evident from my resume. It wasn't a terrible experience but I had a problem with having my time wasted.

The supervisor position is not the manager position. Once she and I realized I would be working under someone else in the branch we knew it wasn't a good fit. This could have been ascertained via my resume and could have saved me time on an early morning before heading into my current job. Overall, it was a waste and that I didn't appreciate.

In my personal opinion (from a legal standpoint) you have to interview several people before you can make an offer for employment. I know this because as a hiring manager we had to do it as well. Normally it is an internal that we want to see interview for a possible future role. The interview lasted about 30 minutes before she knew we were simply wasting time. Overall, it said a lot about the company.
