Interview
The recruiter was very nice. I had the first round of interviews that went well My on-site was canceled the morning off with no explanation or anything. I stayed up all night to prepare for the interview only to get a calendar notification that morning. Anyways they don’t owe me anything .

It's a pretty lengthy process. There are many technical challenges (4 in total) that are all an hour each, and that's just the hurdle to get to the behavioral rounds. None of it is impossibly difficult, but it is pretty exhausting to go through so many rounds. Only two of the rounds really have "hands on" work that you can expect in your day to day as a SWE, the other two are more abstract.
They also aren't very conversational challenges either, they will require full attention end to end. You won't be discussing anything technical, instead you will be sharing your screen and observed for every assessment.
The team though is full of friendly people, and nobody was a displeasure to speak with. It is a much longer than average hiring process though, so be prepared to set aside in total about 5~6 hours end to end.

Question 1
Various technical challenges that must be completed, not a lot of questions.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Qualia (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2025
Interview
1. HR Phone Screen (30 minutes)
2. Technical Interview #1 (1 hour)
3. Technical Interview Day (5 hours)
4. Talk with VP (40 minutes)
5. Get rejected through an auto-generated AI written email after putting in over 7 hours of interviews. It's insulting, dehumanizing and a waste of time and energy
Some of the people I talked to were really pleasant, would love to work with them, they were friendly and genuine and intelligent.
Others could not be bothered, multitasked during interviews instead of listening to me while I was working through the technical problems, or answering their questions.
