      Sales Engineer Interview

      Jan 28, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Qualtrics (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2018

      Interview

I was contacted from their recruiting team, had an initial phone interview the recruiter, the hiring manager, colleagues and a demo. To be frank, Recruiting and hiring manager dropped the ball in terms of communication and transparency on my status as I went through this process, often going a week+ without follow up from recruiters. It seems to be a recurring theme with this organization, unfortunately. Hopefully their recent acquisition by SAP will translate to a better recruiting experience for potential candidates.

Extra, extra. - Are you looking to be scrurried through a recruiting process led by a rotating set of just out of college HR team members? - Are you looking to work for managers who don’t answer your emails and hide behind their young HR team? - Are you looking to hurry up and wait? Encountering two week gaps, followed by “we’re ready to move fast?” - Are you looking to interview with a group of executives who don’t blink and stare at you incessantly? - Are you looking to be asked “tough” interview questions culled by googling “Interview questions asked by Google”? - Are you looking to be flown out to Salt Lake City and put up in a crappy hotel in the dull part of a dull town? - Are you looking to waste four and a half months of your life? Unfortunately, I wasn’t looking for any of these things, but was dragged through this long slow river called Qualtrics. Jump off of the raft and swim to shore early is all the advice I have.

      Sales Engineer Interview

      Jul 20, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Qualtrics

      Interview

Straightforward interview. They want a very immature sales team, a young and hungry team. They don't value experience and success as much as cheap labor. This is also one of the rare SE positions that requires you to be 9-5 in an office rather than remote. I have been very successful in my career and when we talked about compensation they told me with a negative tone "wow you get paid more than a lot of upper management here." So just because I worked hard and am very successful you think I don't deserve what I make? Lastly, I accept rejection, we are all use to it and accept it. However, saying "we will get back to you" many times and not hearing back for weeks is very unprofessional with no follow up. Thanks for just completely wasting my time with no respect nor thanks.
