After applying, was contacted via Whatsapp by the recruiter at near midnight, even though I did not specify anywhere in my resume or application my number was available for contact via Whatsapp. After I sent a message, they replied only after more than 24 hours. Scheduled a phone interview at night because the contact was busy for that day.
After the phone interview, scheduled a technical interview via Zoom. I joined on time but was told to wait for several minutes as the engineer was busy (only HR and CTO was present on time). After 20 minutes of waiting (showing no appreciation of candidate's time), the HR person came online and began the interview without the engineer. They said he would join later. In the middle of the interview the engineer came and suddenly started asking questions.
We are sorry to hear that your interview experience with us was negative.
As for the initial point of contact, there is definitely room for us to better our processes so that the turnaround time to you would be quicker. Perhaps we should have started our conversation with a call right from the start!
We would also like to note that there was an issue which required immediate attention by our lead engineer and hence the delay. As we value your time, we decided to make the call to start the session first, rather than to have you wait any further.
Regardless, your feedback is definitely useful for us to better our candidate experience moving forward.
And we wish you the best in your job search!
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SHIELD (Singapore) in Aug 2018
Interview
Got the call by the HR and discussed previous experiences and tech stacks. The call was fine and scheduling for the interview was rather okay, given that I was overseas.
Then the horror began. The recruiter did not send the invitation to the video call, and I almost presumed the interview had been called off. Only before 3 minutes into the meeting, I had to call him up if the interview is still happening and he rushed everything.
The second interview was rather okay except for the fact that I could not prepare much ahead.
The rejection email letter came two weeks later to which I followed up for the feedback. And as expected, there is no response.
As a company, I believe there is a lot of room to improve as to how you schedule interviews and all that and I felt horrible to be left in the dark just because the recruiter did not communicate properly.
