Applied online then a few days later had a phone screening call which was fairly easy then the
following day had a call with area manager and was offered job after speaking with him for 12 minutes. I do not recommend lying at all, but if you want the job tell them you build rapport quickly, have great work ethic and drive, you enjoy working on a team that acts as if they care for one another, and that you enjoy setting and achieving lofty goals.

    Interview

    Safehaven review

Had 3 interviews with 3 different people where I got 3 different descriptions of the job I’d applied for. Which ended up being a high tech door to door salesman who has a drill and a screwdriver. Initially told I’d be working in new construction in an area near my home, doing installations and programming for new homeowners. This slowly morphed into installing in existing and new builds among 3 counties, then into I had to sell an average of $250 dollars worth of equipment per install to keep my job.
When you see the cost of the devices it doesn’t sound awful, then you get to see who you’re selling to and it all takes a nosedive. I’m not bilingual, English is my predominant language. 5 of my 7 training calls were Spanish speaking households. Not an ideal selling environment, meanwhile you have 3 “appointments” a day. The manager told me to use google translate or to call him and he’d translate. Not exactly the most time efficient when most of your salary is based on appointments and selling gear in a 2 hour per call window. Saturday’s are mandatory, no exceptions. One of the other gentlemen I was training with could not work on Saturday due to his faith, the response was this.
“We don’t discriminate against religions, but you have to work Saturdays.” Take from that what you will.
From the small amount I saw in a week, the “sales team” is basically the stereotypical door to door sales. They will not sell the homeowner what they really need, because then they lose profit margin. It’s the “installers” job to really protect the home and deal with the client’s sticker shock and bewilderment when they find out they’ve been hoodwinked.
They give you the usual song and dance about you’ll be “selling protection and keeping people and their property safe.” This is a very warped view of what your job will be.
The training videos are lacking in helping you prepare for the job. The sales portion of the training is the most underhanded I’ve ever seen. It’s downright infuriating where they tell you to stoop to squeeze every cent out of someone who just wants to secure their family and possessions. It’s downright predatory.
If you make it out of training you’ll be working out of your personal vehicle (which you will be compensated $32 for, per appointment) and you’ll be purchasing all of your own tools and keeping an inventory of components and equipment that will be inventoried weekly on Thursday, another mandatory day. The tools you’ll need to do the job effectively will set you back around $300 to $500. Things like cordless drill with bits and attachments, extension ladder, tools to fish wiring through attics and walls, electrical tools for tracing wiring and troubleshooting and storage to organize all this in your personal vehicle.
In a nutshell, it’s a sales job but they won’t tell you that outright.

    Interview

Was invited for an interview a few days after applying online. Manager immediately went into an hour-long spiel, reciting information directly from his computer. Information was already self-explanatory and in a video you are required to watch prior to the interview anyway. He then asked only one question regarding my qualifications. He said he had a few other interviews that day but would call or text me that evening to let me know if I got the job. Never got that message - VERY unprofessional. I only knew that the position was filled when I got an email from the company a week or so later to inform me that the position was filled. Glad I didn't get sucked into a toxic environment like that.

    Application

The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Safe Haven Security.

    Interview

Met with the local manager and his assistant. Relaxed interview. Made me feel comfortable. Felt they were genuine and honest. Seemed like a great group of people. They had me watch about a 15 minute video describing the company and the position. Unfortunately the position was 100% commission based which didn’t work for me at the time.
