    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Schell Games in June 2014.

    Interview

After submitting my credentials I received an email from (I believe) an internal recruiter to set up a phone interview. The interview was scheduled with a senior production employee, however when I got on the call, there were multiple people on the phone. The interview was conducted on speakerphone. Someone on their side arrived late to the interview and began joking around with colleagues. Very unprofessional. I got the distinct impression that the interviewers were looking at my resume for the first time while on the call, and as a result I did about 80% of the talking. They showed little interest in me and by the end of the interview I certainly had no interest in working for/with them. Perhaps this was an attempt to seem laid-back and casual, but from my perspective it was quite unpleasant and left me with a very unfavorable impression of the company.

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Schell Games (Pittsburgh, PA) in May 2013.

    Interview

It's for an intern position but the process is quite long, at least 5 rounds. And you need to prepare a very strong portfolio and if possible, bring your laptop or ipad with you to demonstrate it.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Schell Games (Pittsburgh, PA) in May 2013.

    Interview

Interview started with a fairly standard phone call. On-site interview was nearly a full day of meeting the teams and looking at projects. Met with designers as a group, did a design challenge (had to come up with a game idea given a certain restraint), etc. Overall, a good experience, even if I didn't end up getting the job.

    Game Engineer Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Schell Games (Pittsburgh, PA) in February 2008.

    Interview

I was in a room with several engineers where we reviewed a code sample I had provided. There were no technical questions asked and I got the feeling that the interviewers did not understand the code sample that was provided. The questions were mostly design oriented or focused on high livel engineering decisions.
