      Senior Frontend Developer Interview

      Jul 1, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Secureworks in Jun 2022

      Interview

Recruiter reached out to me over linked in and spoke on a high level about the position and decided to move forward with a second interview with a lead developer. Talk with the lead went really well, she explained to me that they use NGRX for their front-end (which I explained I haven't used before) and she said that's not an issue with my experience and wouldn't matter as long as I was a good culture fit (which she expressed I was). So after this interview they decided to proceed with a take home test that they state they give to every candidate with no time frame but they specify that most people return it in 4 days in order to proceed with the interview process. I turned in the assignment in 3 days and waited to hear back from HR on the next steps. When they finally reached back (about a week later) they said they would like to proceed with the next technical interview but that since I didn't have NGRX experience they would like to proceed at a downgraded experience level, which I negotiated and we both agreed to. The following meeting was with two software engineers and we discussed the project, Angular, observables, etc... it was very technical and more of a laid back kind of discussion. The interview went very well and I was able to answer about 90% of the questions correctly with clear signs the interviewers where agreeing with my answers. I believed I nailed the interview and after thanked each other and said good luck on the last interview which was scheduled for the following day. About an hour later I get a cancelation for the last interview and then an email stating they're not moving forward because "my experience" wasn't enough. If my experience wasn't enough why waste my time with 3 prior interviews, and a take home test that took another 6 hours of my time? Such a lack of respect for the interviewers time, which is a shame because I had some really great conversations with everyone prior, really doesn't make sense to me. I've been a Senior Developer for about a year now and have about 5 years experience in this field.
