      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Sephora (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Friendly but not very warm. Seems like the culture is intense and not as inviting. Does seem to be a great company with amazing marketing and sales. The hiring manager does seem very knowledgable and assertive.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sephora (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2017

      Interview

My process started with me applying for the job on their website. I heard back from the HR in less than a week. She detailed the role, its responsibilities while subtlety analyzing if I would fit in the Sephora culture and with its principles. Sephora is not a rule based company, so they heavily guard their culture of collaboration and openness. One thing that was surprising for me however, was how the topic of compensation was handled and stressed on multiple times in that 30 minute conversation. Like you would have read in many reviews, Sephora does not negotiate on compensation and the HR specified the range at the beginning. A few days later, this was followed up by a phone interview with my to-be manager. The interview covered what kind of work I have handled, some behavioral questions, in depth review of a few projects. Overall the interview mode was conversational. I heard back in a couple of days and was invited for an onsite interview the next week. I was to meet a peer, my manager, manager's manager and her counterpart and lastly, my senior director. The interviews were held in a room one after another. One thing that I didnt appreciate much is how it ran over lunch time and nobody had baked that in in the schedule. As a potential candidate interviewing, it is not uncommon to take you out for lunch and informally get to know you further and give a chance to do the same as well. This was the only company that hadn't thought of that. But they do give you a bag of goodies at the start of the interview - so that is super cool. The interviews were conversational in nature and every person, while intent on understanding better about my skills and passions, also took effort to explain the team and its vision. The round of interviews ended with a written SQL test which was very basic. I heard back from the HR in a few days , we discussed how the compensation couldn't be altered however they did make up for it in a couple of different ways. The entire process is handled by people who seem genuinely happy with their jobs and are happy to interview you. So you feel the positive vibes through out.
