Applied online and heard from a recruiter for a pre-screen then quickly had an interview with the hiring manager. Things were great until they informed me that they wanted to start background check, after just 1 interview, and no offer was made yet. I still had other interviews to go. This is not a company that is fostering a trusting environment. The background check consists of 40 different points where you literally feel like your trying to work for the CIA as an undercover operative. In fact, you have a better chance of being a foreign intelligence spy than working here. They are going through my information for the last 20+ years. Also they were supposed to schedule further interviews but havent, so I am starting to feel ghosted but they are still going through the painful background check on me. I also think its strange that SVB is the only bank hiring 100% remote and now I am convinced they probably put tracking software on your company laptop (including probably forcing your camera to turn on to make sure your working all day!) All this for a low-level position is shocking to me. I think as soon as you go through an initial interview and they want to verify every inch of your resume and every word out of your mouth, its concerning. I have never had problems before with going through background checks but they come after an offer of employment, not after 1 discussion. I dont think this is normal behavior even for a Bank and probably shows you how they operate.
