      Airline Pilot (First Officer) Interview

      Sep 14, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      San Carlos, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (San Carlos, CA) in Feb 2022

      Interview

The process for me was very straightforward. I was emailed that I would be invited to sit for a Zoom interview, and a date/time was assigned based on my feedback (appreciated!). Then, a day prior to the interview, my interviewer sent me a few materials to be used for the interview: a Jepp chart, a long list of various METARs, and a weather map. During the interview, which lasted roughly 3 hours, we had a very fair and enjoyable discussion that addressed: -my career history (not just about flying) -my knowledge of Jepp approach charts -my knowledge of technical jet flying characteristics -my knowledge of weather related to high altitude flying -a few more various and lightweight topics to round it out When I was completed with the interview, I feel my interviewer offered me an opportunity to present "my best self". I genuinely felt that, whether offered a role or not, I was able to present my viability for the job, and put my best foot forward. While it was difficult, it was fair and certainly appropriate for a top-tier Part 121 airline, and I felt that my time and interest were respected by the interviewer. That, more than anything, left me feeling very positive about the SkyWest process.
