      Senior Customer Success Manager Interview

      Oct 29, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Slack (London, England) in Oct 2016

      Interview

I don't go for many interviews at this stage in my life as I'm pretty choosy where I'm going for my next career move. Even though I did not get the position, I felt that this was a very positive experience. I read through all the other interview reviews to prep for my own interview. There appears to be a lot of negative comments versus positive comments - mostly for developer type roles it seems. I also think people are more motivated when wanting to leave negative feedback. So here goes - this is my experience.... After applying on line via Slack careers page (with CV and Cover letter supplied) I was contacted via email from a Talent Requisition rep (Dublin office, Slack). I was able to provide a number of days/times that were suitable to do the first screening call. Very simple and quick to arrange. The screening call was for 50 minutes, and the person I spoke was very personable and easy to chat to about my background and experience. By the end of the call I was very interested in the role, and thankfully was told I would be moving to the next stage for a 1:1 call with the hiring manager. The call was with the hiring manager (who was temporarily in the US- and not in the UK as per usual) and was arranged for a few days later. Again, very simple to book in the call. The call ended up actually being a video call. I was able to arrange this for when I was at home (due to the timezone difference between UK and US) which made the call a bit less stressful (than hiding away at lunchtime when at the office) The hiring manager was friendly and I was at ease immediately. The call went for at least 45 minutes. I was told that I would be contacted in the next few days following. Email received the next day from the Talent Requisition rep asking for another call. I was really not sure which way this would go as it's not often you get another call if you're unsuccessful. Unfortunately on this call (of about 15 minutes) I was not offered the position and feedback was given about the interview. The feedback was thorough and I understand the reasons why I was not given this particular role.

      Interview

Overall the process aligns perfectly to what is mentioned already here in the reviews. Only complaint is the time and effort put towards each round. If you are a viable candidate, a tremendous amount of prep goes into the chronological interview and hours upon hours on the presentation round. You are provided with a 50 page brand guidelines and told to create a presentation from scratch. It just seems like too much time wasted if not offered a position or at least an alternative with all the open positions that seem to be available. People have full time jobs, families etc. An additional 30+ hours to prep for a presentation that goes nowhere is a bit ridiculous.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Slack (London, England) in Mar 2021

      Interview

The internal recruiter has reached out to me on LinkedIn asking for a call. We had a call and he said he would come back to me with the feedback next day. I have never heard back from him, even though I have sent him an email. I am deeply disappointed - not having any courtesy of sending a ''Thank you email', even though I was rejected, is quite frankly disrespectful. Candidates prepare for interviews and not having any feedback after the interview call is very rude. I have never expected this level of service quality from the company like Slack.

      Senior Customer Success Manager Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Slack (South San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

Had a phone screen and did not progress further because Slack isn’t sponsoring work visas for this role. The interviewer asked to reveal which customers I am working with and the ARR for each. These questions felt inappropriate but the recruiter insisted on knowing. Slack recruiting should not put candidates on the spot to reveal confidential details about their current role. Simply unethical!
