I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (Vancouver, BC) in Mar 2022
Interview
I applied for a senior position and got an email from a recruiter to schedule a phone interview. Three minutes into the call, she says that I don’t have enough experience for the senior position and that she can consider me for a more of a mid-senior one. If that says anything, it’s that she never even read my resume. I didn’t call her out on that because well.. I wanted to apply for the other position.
Anyway, I reapplied later for the position she mentioned, got a phone interview with her that was very basic. I don’t know if that was her first day on the job or what, but she kept interrupting me to repeat myself as she was typing what I said, that resulted in my speaking in sentences and waiting for her to fill out whatever she was writing. I’ve had my fair share of phone interviews and never encountered something like that.
On the next day I get an email to schedule another interview with a hiring manager. That main recruiter handed me over to other recruiters from a third-party recruiting company who were as unprofessional as the main one. I had that interview a week later, then after that complete silence, didn’t hear back from the manager or the recruiters or anything. I really look for the day that HR or recruiters respect our time and effort and show some decency by just getting back to the candidates instead of just ghosting.
