I interviewed at Smartsheet (Edinburgh, Scotland) in Apr 2021
Interview
I met the recruiter from the HQ for 10 minutes. It was a quick chat to ask any questions to the recruiter.
Then I had an interview with the hiring manager. This was a weird experience. My recruiter sent me the linkedin profile of my interview, he called himself "SRE Fetishist" on there, which was.. weird.
During my interview, he had many biases & was unprofessional. For example, He had strong feelings against "DevOps" and failed to recognize it as a job. He got mad when I called "Dev ops engineer" as a job and he said "its a culture". This was very cringe.
Upon asking what kind of person do you want to hire for the job, he promptly replied "We're looking for someone who's passionate about Computer Science & not in it for money".
I think he said this because I had some experience at top hedge fund on my resume. I kept an open mind while interviewing with a small company like Smartsheet, but this interviewer made my experience very bad.
If you're being interviewed by the "SRE Fetishist" from Aberdeen, cancel your interview or ask for a different team from your recruiter.
