I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Southwest Airlines in Mar 2015
Interview
Applied online. A few days later was contacted by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 45 min. Basic questions about personality and skill set. Very friendly and relaxed process. At the end of the interview, the recruiter will have a pretty good idea if they want to bring you in for a face to face interview. A couple weeks later a Face to Face interview was set up. Asked to get to HDQ early to get finger printing and paperwork processed. Prior to the face to face you will be asked to fill out an application regarding 10 year background check, education and job history. The interview process is normally a panel, mine had 5 people. It is very conversational interview and just displace your talents. No need to get nervous. Asked to talk through resume, and then the team will ask questions regarding specifics about the job. This interview is more about personality and fit with the team than qualifications. Have fun and good luck!

Question 1
Being a fast paced environment and quickly moving, how do you handle distractions?
Received a random email from a sourcing recruiter September 2025. Interview went well and stated that I would hear back. Received another email October 8, 2025 stating that I was still in the running and that when the job gets created I would hear more. Responded to said email thanking them and letting them know that I am still interested. Also seen that the email was sent to me but with a different persons email. Stated this and the recruiter stated that it was a glitch. Weeks passed and I emailed just to check in. That was November 8, 2025. Ghosted. Religiously checked their careers page to see the exact same position listed. Applied and followed up with the recruiter. Still no response. Just unprofessional, as I know several hundreds apply but a common courtesy response would have been nice.

Interview
I recently completed a one-way video interview, and I found the process to be fairly easy. The questions were straightforward, and I didn’t face any major difficulties in answering them. However, I’m not entirely sure how effectively the company can evaluate a candidate based on this type of interview format. Since there’s no real-time interaction, they miss out on assessing qualities like spontaneity, adaptability, and how well a candidate engages in a conversation. While it might help them filter out applicants based on basic qualifications and communication skills, I feel that a live interview would provide a more comprehensive assessment of a candidate’s potential.

Question 1
Why do you want to work at Southwest Airlines, and how do you align with the company’s values and culture?
Interview was okay. I knew I didn't get the job when the interviews are disengaged. I have a feeling that they already had someone in mind for the job. Recruiter is present for all interview rounds.
