I filled out the online application as well as the writing sample. I was SUPER excited about this opportunity so I spent a couple of days perfecting my application, cover letter and my answers for the written exercises. About two weeks later, I received a email from HR, stating that they received my application and to be on the lookout for future emails from them. It was probably my own misunderstanding but after two weeks, I kind of took the email to mean that I had made it past the first round of deliberations and would be contacted about scheduling an interview soon. A few days later, I received another email saying that they were "looking for a candidate with more direct online service experience".
I wish that the qualifications for the position would've been more clear. The listed qualifications were more about personality: friendliness, organized, a desire to help people, etc. Based on the job description and qualifications, I know I would have been able to do the job. I understand wanting a candidate with technical experience but if that is a qualification that's going to be used to initially turn people away, then that qualification should be clearly stated. Maybe I'm being sensitive, but it really sucks to be rejected right out of the gate, for a qualification that was never asked for.
The interview process seemed liked it would be long, but on the bright side, the correspondence was always very friendly and professional.
