      Customer Advocate Interview

      Feb 27, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Sprout Social (Dublin, Dublin) in Jan 2019

      Interview

I sent my CV through Glassdoor and received a response a few days later asking me to complete a 2 hour written test. There were 3 questions. 1.How has Social media impacted Businesses and Companies? What do you think will happen in the future? 2.Step by step of creating a post on the Sprout Social platform 3. Respond to a user who is frustrated regarding Sprout Social posting on their Facebook page. If you're successful and you pass this stage you will then have a half hr conversation with a recruiter. This call will last 20/30 mins. General questions are asked, only question you really need to prepare for is why you want to work at SS. If you pass this stage another 30 mins conversation will be arranged and you will talk to one of the Customer Advocate Managers, this conversation is mainly give me an example of a project you're proud of, a time you went above and beyond, typical questions that are asked, again you'll be asked why you want to join the team and why you think you're a suitable candidate. After this, I was asked for another interview. As I am based in Dublin, and there is only a small team in Dublin this 3.5 interview was over video chat. It only lasted 3 hours. I met 7 different members of the team. There were numerous questions I was unprepared for (What would you change in your life and why), alot of the questions were repeated, I guess different members of the team need to see if you're the right fit for the team. After this interview, I waited one week to hear back from the recruiter to say that a member of the Dublin team would like to meet me for Coffee/Lunch. I went to the office and met a member of the team for coffee, it was informal but there were still elements that were very interview like, these you can't prepare for. Alot of questions regarding your personality and what type of person you are. This coffee chat is the culture fit, its to see if your personality will blend with the team. If you have the same values as the company. I asked when I'd be hearing back, honestly I assumed it would be in a day or two considering the process as already been just a month, but I was told I should hear in a week or two as other candidates are still being interviewed. I heard back 6 days after the "interview", I was told that they team loved getting to know me but the teams needs have changed and that they decided they needed someone bilingual, honestly I don't think this is something a team should just decide, especially considering this process took so long. I was not offered this job because I am not bilingual which is a kick in the teeth considering all the time and dedication that has been put into preparing for this role, I did not get this job because I didn't possess the right skills or because I wouldn't fit into the team, I didn't get this job because I do not speak another language. This was not part of the job spec, and I find this highly unprofessional, regardless as to whether you're a start up company or a mature company, I think transparency is important, and truthfully Sprout Social have not been transparent. Do not apply for this role if you're looking for a smooth interview process. Be prepared to take alot of time off work, be prepared to not get replies for over a week (this is a company that is there to help other companies communicate with their clients) Overall, terrible experience.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and want to acknowledge the validity of your frustration with your interview process. Our business needs are always evolving, which affects our hiring and in some cases will require we look for different skills in a given role. Our intention is always to be as transparent as possible when working with candidates, and in this case, I apologize that this happened so late in what we know is a rigorous process. We’re sharing your feedback and will be reviewing the process with our team to improve for the future.

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Sprout Social (London, England) in May 2021

      Interview

Probably the worst interview process that exists! The recruiter was inexperienced in her role, possibly too young for the position. She asked me to turn off my camera beginning of interview as hers was off, gave false hope in our communication emails and misleading information, advising I was the perfect candidate for the role.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sprout Social (Denver, CO) in Nov 2020

      Interview

The interviewer only did a main screening. My background directly aligns with this position with years of experience. She asked me about my resume and then asked if I had questions about the position. She barely told me anything on her end in regards to what the position entails or the company. In my opinion a terrible interviewer. I tried to engage her in conversation and told her a relatable aspect of the position from a question I had asked her. I thought she would respond but instead there was a long silence and she just said "ok do you have any more questions?" She was completely uninterested in anything I had to say. It was almost as if she didn't even care to talk to me.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sprout Social (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2020

      Interview

Took forever. Initial interview, second interview, writing sample, final interview, closing notice. The interviewers were super scripted and did not provide much feedback. They really heavily wanted to hear concrete examples. Only my final interview with the higher ups was a normal, conversational interview. Everyone else was "question-answer" with no flow. I was turned down because "I didn't provide ENOUGH specific examples during my last interview." Verbatim from the recruiter.
