      Data Center Technician Interview

      Accepted offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TEKsystems in Apr 2011

      Interview

I had one initial phone call for my interview from an Administrative Assistant (Secretary) who inquired about my availability and set up an interview in the New York City office on Third Street. I then went into the office on time and was directed to a small, empty office with a telephone on the desk. The girl told me I'll receive a call shortly and exited the room. The recruiter then called, I answered and he began asking about my job history, my comfort in working with high voltage materials and the type of safety equipment (steel toes, helmets, etc.) I own, in addition to what tools I have and what may be required on the job. Then began an assessment of my computer knowledge and data center knowledge (Basic Terminology and Definition questions like: What is TCP/IP?). Shortly after, he asked about the compensation I expected (so I shot for $2 more than my expected rate, expecting the typical response) and was answered by "Great, I'll send this contract over to her (secretary) now, she'll print it out and bring it in there for you to review." So I reviewed it, signed it, said thank you and bye, and within about two weeks I was called for a job in the Staten Island area.

2 rounds, both were professional but had some hard questions to vet people. Otherwise not bad and decent communication overall. Make sure to follow up as much as possible to stay in the loop as much as you can

      Interview

The process was quick and easy, started with a call from a recruiter. Then an interview with the recruiter. From there the recruiter set up a interview with the hiring manager. That asked questions that pertain to basic networking and cabling.
