  1. "Technical Project Manager"

    Pros

For professionals with much experience this contracting company can be helpful getting you into the company you want. I have been with Teksystems on and off for over 9 years.

    Cons

Could be a better advocate for hard working, senior professional to get a permanent job somewhere within the client company.

    Advice to Management

Let the managers do their job. In general good experiences. But just seems near impossible to get permanent job even after 6 extended contracts and counting.

    Cons

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work experience that is valued in the job market. Fellow Recruiters become like family over time. Management was very responsive if I ever had concerns about ethics regarding business practices. Our Senior Recruiter was an excellent mentor and will always be a friend in my mind.

    Cons

Way too much micromanagement from our Sales Manager that created a culture of distrust. There was an increasingly strong division between the Account Managers and Recruiters in the office. Recruiters were also generally not treated with respect and there was too many instances where we were allocated to work on poor quality business that wasn't properly qualified. I felt like my time was being disrespected and management didn't like it when I started to push back. If you speak about against bad decisions you will NOT be allowed to attend national sales meetings. True diversity is embracing opposing points of view and coming together to strengthen the business. Real diversity doesn't have anything to do with race, gender or sexual orientation.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to feedback rather than just dig in and argue. The Albuquerque, NM office is suffering massive attrition because management is unwilling to improve. We need new leadership in the Albuquerque, NM office or TEKsystems will continue to under perform. We've had higher production levels under better leadership in the past and we need to get back to that. The culture has become sub-par and there is a total lack of accountability and hostility to dissent.

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great compensation (though that likely varies with contract)
    Benefits available as a contractor
    Very communicative
Good variety of companies to work with
High professionalism - recruiters are not scummy and shady.

I really enjoyed working with this company, they have lucrative contracts for developers, and are well respected at the companies they serve. The company seems to carry a bit of weight with their clients as you aren't treated like a "temp" but more of a valued resource.

It's not a culture that discourages getting hired on full time at your contract like some agencies, and in fact I've been told by an insider in a major company in Oregon that Teksystems is their preferred vendor because of the quality of candidates they produce and many full time people get hired from there.

I would recommend Tek Systems for a temp contract, or a way to get in to a big company full time.

    Cons

Sometimes communication can be a bit hazy between managers and Tek due to the nature of the arrangement, but it's not excessive, nor always the fault of Tek.

    Advice to Management

Treat your good account managers and recruiters well, they are great at not only placing contractors, but communicating with them, and they make a difference to the image of the company on both sides. Keep encouraging the recruiters to make the RIGHT placement as opposed to simply making big numbers.

This is what sets TekSystems apart from other companies in the area, I felt my recruiter was well informed about tech and the industry. She was concerned with getting me into something that fit well rather than ask me to cheat and hack my way through an interview like some companies do.
