I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Target (Mission Viejo, CA) in Sep 2012
Interview
Applied online via their site. Received a phonecall where I was asked if I would like an interview and was given an initial phone interview on the spot. The questions were run of the mill-- stuff like "when was a time you made a mistake and how did you rectify it", etc. They also asked about my good qualities were as well as my flaws.
I was asked to schedule a second interview in person during that same week. Went in, sat down with a GSTL and was given the second interview, where I was asked questions similar to that of the one I'll list in Unexpected Question below. It was a breeze as the GSTL was very friendly and she gave me the papers to get a drug test and a date for Orientation.

Question 1
How would you handle a situation in which a customer claims an item that comes up as [$20] on the register is [$18]?
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
It was interesting. Not hard at all, straightforward, and pretty open people. It was an okay interview and what you’d typically expect. So don’t stress stress it, I mean kinda try your best
