I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target (Harrisonburg, VA) in Apr 2009
Interview
Applied online and recieved an e-mail from a recruiter a few weeks later. She sent me an online assessment I needed to take, as well as an appointment for a phone interview. The assessment consisted of 95 questions, with about half being personality based, and the other half being SAT-type questions (math and reading).
The phone interview with the recruiter consisted of about 5 behavioral-based questions where you are asked about a situation and your response to said situation. It lasted about 20-25 minutes.
Almost immediately after this interview (about 30 mins), I was contacted by the store to come in for an interview the following day.

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC)
Interview
It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
