I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2014
Interview
Multi step interview process that was fairly straightforward and repetitive.
1. Met with recruiter at college career fair. She asked me a lot of questions and took my resume
2. Met with store team leader. He asked all behavior based questions. He also encouraged me to ask a lot of questions about the company, so have questions prepared in advance
3. I was then bumped to the human resources manager of the store. She asked a lot of similar behavior based questions.
4. Immediately thereafter, I shadowed one of the current ETLs around the store. She showed me a day in the life of her position and asked me a lot of questions about strengths and weaknesses.
5. After my first round of interviews, I completed assessment tests includinv a personality test, logic test, and management test.
6. A week later, I was called in for a phone interview with the HR district leader. Same behavior questions as before.
7. I was then bumped to an additional phone interview with the HR region leader, or whatever it's called. I received similar behavior based questions.
8. I finally received my formal offer and accepted, I completed a drug test 24 hours after my offer.
Time consuming, but positive, professional, and clear cut.

It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
