The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Target (Hayward, CA) in Mar 2011
Interview
I applied for Target online and got a phone call about 2 weeks later asking me to come in for an interview (the interview was on a Tuesday). Came in and had to take an assessment test. The questions were of the "what would you do" type. I only remember one, it was something like: You're trying to sell a product to a guest and you're sure you've got it down when another guest walks in. All other team members are busy. Would you a) ignore them and continue with the guest you're already helping. b) greet them and tell them you'll be with them in a minute. c) tell them another team member will be with them shortly. After the assessment, I had two interviews by two different people. They asked a lot of similar questions, all along the lines of "describe a time when..." They were writing what I was saying down and I noticed there were 3 different columns: "situation, action, and outcome." Something along those lines. So when you're answering a question, make sure to emphasize those three categories: what happened, what you did (right) and the end result. I was pretty comfortable during the interview and found it very easy because the guys interviewing me were super friendly. They cracked jokes here and there and were understanding when I'd have to pause and collect my thoughts. But yeah, that's basically it. Oh, and you have to take a drug test, so be prepared for that! Overall, the interview process for me was fairly simple/quick. I was interviewed on a Tuesday, took my drug test on a Friday, came for orientation the next Tuesday, and now I'm a Target team member! Good luck to all!

Question 1
Describe a time when you had to work with a group of people to achieve a common goal.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
It was interesting. Not hard at all, straightforward, and pretty open people. It was an okay interview and what you’d typically expect. So don’t stress stress it, I mean kinda try your best
