      Marketing Interview

      Oct 11, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks

      Interview

The hiring process is really thorough at ThoughtWorks. Even for an operational role I had 7 interviews. While this is exhausting it's also really helpful because I got to meet lots of people I would be working with, and ask questions - and get really honest answers. It seems to be as much about whether you want to work there, as whether they want you.

      Question 1

What is marketing? As an opening question this felt really hard - but obviously very appropriate and made me think

      Interview

Application stage shows me how 'thorough' the so-called 'experienced' talent team are in screening. I went to read Glassdoor reviews of the local office and ran through LinkedIn to observe the 'diversity' of the team in Asia where I was applying. There's a clear preference/bias for PRC applicants (talent team too is from China) and it seems that positive experience is only experienced by developers (of course they will get better treatment compared to other professionals in the company). So much for the career page online about 'think outside tech' (transferrable skills), and 'experience over resume' (does that even make sense)? Career page culture sounds like an overpromise and superficial.
