I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at USAA (Phoenix, AZ) in Jan 2023
Interview
Received a reply back fairly quick when I submitted my application asking to select a time for a phone interview. The 'interview' was pretty basic and they described the role and compensation. I was told I should hear within a few days to set up a zoom interview. Didn't hear anything for 2 weeks then received a generic email saying another candidate was more aligned with the position.

Question 1
Why do you want to work for USAA? Our office is located at ________. Does this work for you? What qualities do you have that make you qualified for the role? Describe a situation where you made a mistake and what did you do to fix it?
Honestly, I halted the interview for a few reasons. The main one was that the recruiter sounded like a drone, with no enthusiasm or passion for bringing people into the company. It was clear he didn't even want to be on the phone call. The one thing he did sound enthusiastic about was when I was ending the phone call. Is it a major turn-off to anyone else when recruiters are forced to read a verbatim script introducing you to the company and do it with such little enthusiasm it's borderline obvious they're miserable or at the very least apathetic? That was my cut-off. I wish I could say it was just a case of a person being monotone but between the sighing and breath-heavy words unfortunately not.
