I received a call from HR to schedule an interview for an opening in the Chicago office however interview was conducted in TX. The interview was real simple but the interviewer was extremely unprofessional and she did not effectively communicate with her HR team to hash out the details as I was given two different stories. An offer was never made but it was for the best as the hiring organizatiom within United was poorly run.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2012
Interview
They use the STAR interview process - Situation, Task, Action, Result. So they ask you situational questions and expect your answers to include the four components.
My interview was for an internal position, so there was no initial contact with HR or any of the formal things that occur when you come from the outside. When I was hired in 2007, there was a background check, however, I'm not sure if that still occurs since the Continental and United processes were merged.
