I did a writing assignment beforehand, which was discussed in the interview in addition to standard behavioral questions. It was a 2-hour interview (4 one-on-one interviews with short breaks in between).

If we asked you to modify this writing sample so that it's shorter, how would you do that?
I submitted my resume and a cover letter. A few days later I received an email congratulating me; they wanted me to do a video interview. I watched the 'tips' video and did a few practice questions, which were pretty standard interview questions. I felt I was ready to begin, so I decided to start the interview. That's when I was faced with a question that was far from standard and would be much easier to answer in writing, and not speaking to a webcam with 30 seconds of prep, for this *Writer* position.

The oddly worded question asked you to pitch a health care story. (The purpose and audience for the pitch was not clear, and the question was so long that it took most of the 30 seconds to read and try to understand it, which left no time for actual preparation. )
