Received phone screen from recruiter. Only lasted about 15 minutes and they were very positive and encouraging. Used language like:, “When can you start?”, “We will need you on site the first week?”, “We will align you with a career coach day one of when you start”. They set up a a hour long interview with the hiring manager. Met with the hiring manager and it was a different interview altogether. He said he only had a half hour and basically used that time to just talk about the department and the role. Very basic questions and said they might do a next round of interviews but that someone would be in touch with me. Two weeks later after follow ups with the recruiter I have heard nothing. Checked the career site and found out I was declined for the role. My feeling is that the recruiter is being comped for getting warm bodies in front of the hiring manager but the hiring manager already has a person in mind. Either way it was a big waste of time and a terrible candidate experience.
