The interview process was fair and reasonable, especially compared to other content marketing interviews I’ve done. I met with three people to talk about my experience and had the opportunity to ask several questions to better understand the company and role. That said, please be warned that they have both the worst benefits package and the worst contract terms I’ve ever seen. They will ask you to sign a non-compete that basically won’t allow you to work in the tech industry for a year after working here. And even though the salary was higher than what I currently make, counting in what I would pay out of pocket for healthcare with their insurance almost made the salary comparable to my current salary. A lawyer reviewed the employment contract for me and agreed that the non-compete would have killed my career afterward. There were other terms that were concerning, such as that I would have to participate in any investigations, trials, etc. involving Upland Software at any point in the future if requested, whether I wanted to or not. Very bizarre language, and I’m surprised they’ve gotten anyone to agree to terms like those. Lastly, they will expect you to start immediately after your notice period if you are resigning from a current role. Getting two weeks between jobs was not seen as acceptable to them.
