      Instructor Interview

      Apr 15, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Raleigh, NC
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at VIPKid (Raleigh, NC)

      Interview

Way more effort than needed for what is essentially overhyped children's theater. I am licensed teacher who teaches both English and Spanish, with 13 years of experience. I nailed my interview and my mock 1 and 2, yet was still asked to do a third. When I went to schedule my third there was a quiz I had to take in order to schedule the 3rd mock. This was the final straw for me. This is a side gig, plain and simple. No benefits and no guarantee you will be booked, yet they expect you to pour time and money into interviewing with them. We are talking at least 4 hours of unpaid prep but usually more, for a side job. Plus, my spider sense tells me they are sketchy, and from what I have seen and read I am not the only one. If your a legitimate professional, don't waste your time with this amateur hour company.

      Question 1

Nothing particularly unexpected. Run of the mill.

A greatly respect your experience, and having so many years teaching experience is wonderful. As online education continues to grow different skills are sometimes needed, and at times, skills honed in the classroom may not translate well to the online platform. You are welcome to email us at teachvip@vipkid.com.cn if you have further questions.
