I applied online. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (Seattle, WA) in May 2013
Interview
Filled out the application form online and then got an email and a call later. She asked a couple of math questions because I wanted to tutor math but they were ridiculously easy like "What is the derivative of X^2". That being said they wanted to interview a second time by Skype as well after the phone interview.

Question 1
As the limit of x goes to infinity, what is 100/(10x^3). She worded it weird so I had to have her repeat it like three times.
There was not one only exams that had to be passed to teach certain subjects. It is an AI test so it is set up like an interview. I really liked this process.

Question 1
If I fully understood the material I was teaching.
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (University Park, MD) in Aug 2025
Interview
AI Interview, very easy. Asked very basic question's regarding experience, motivation, etc. I’m a freshman student in UMD and so I haven’t been to many job interviews, but this was genuinely easy.
