This turned out to be a virtual interview that recorded video answers to question prompts. There was no human interviewer, just an app that malfunctioned throughout the interview process. Overall, it was a rather unpleasant experience.

Question 1
For one, they asked interviewees to quickly write and conduct a lesson plan on the spot. No one prepares (quality) lesson plans in 5 minutes. Also, the questions were incredibly redundant. For example, there were 3 questions that asked for a job history overview. Each one was just rephrased in a slightly different way.
There was not one only exams that had to be passed to teach certain subjects. It is an AI test so it is set up like an interview. I really liked this process.

If I fully understood the material I was teaching.
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (University Park, MD) in Aug 2025
Interview
AI Interview, very easy. Asked very basic question's regarding experience, motivation, etc. I’m a freshman student in UMD and so I haven’t been to many job interviews, but this was genuinely easy.
