Recruiting is a bit of a mess. Likely to send a rejection letter then follow up some weeks later with an invitation for an interview. Actual interview is very easy if you know what you're talking about and avoid relying on Google and Stack overflow to do your job.
- What port is used for _? What is the purpose of _ database function or command in MySQL?

Applied to the job and got the next steps to conduct a phone screening interview. On the first 5 min of the call, the recruiter said that the job was already taken and offered a lower status role to explore. Would have rather just gotten an email cancelling than mentally preparing to give it time and energy.
- Do you have any prior sales experience?

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at WP Engine in May 2023
The recruitment process happened in four stages: - Call from the recruiter to talk about the overall of the role, asked a few questions about myself and a few of the technical stuff (ssl, dns, etc). - Received an email with a calendar link to schedule the Technical Interview with a team member that will exclusively ask about technical terms and procedures (a study guide was provided by the recruiter via email). I was asked about Word Press, SSL, DNS, Error 404, LAMP Stack, etc. - Received an email to advise I passed the Technical Interview and got scheduled for the Interview with the Technical Support Manager and the Director. The email also provided a guide for the preparation for the next interview. The interview with them was great, it felt like a nice conversation rather than a scripted/mechanic interview. They give you a good insight about the company, the workflow, the team, etc. Very transparent chat and very insightful too. - About 2 days after the interview the recruitment contacted via email with feedback from the interview and made a video call to offer the job, they also give you the details of the benefits, salary, start date, etc. This was by far the most stress free and smooth recruitment. Interviews with realistic, effective and cohesive questions related to the job and company core values rather then the so many pointless behavioural scripted questions you see around that lead to nowhere and assesses no working skills effectively.
- Technical Interview: - What is SSL and types of SSL? DNS? Error 404, 405, 406? LAMP Stack? Word Press? - What is your experience with Word Press? - Give examples of command for the Linux Command Line. Manager & Director Interview: - Tell us about yourself. - Why WP Engine? - Why are you leaving your current job? - How do you like to be managed? - How would your team describe you? - Where do you see yourself in 5 years within the company? - What do you like to do in your free time? - What is your customer service background? - What is your experience with support chats and support channels? - What motivates you? - The company has 5 core values. Which one do you identify yourself with the most and why?

After an initial hour long interview with a senior hiring manager, a second round of back to back interviews was setup with sales leadership. This took place over the course of 4 1/2 hours. This consisted of four 30 minute interviews.
- Walk me through a your day at your current/most recent position. How did you set your day up for success?

Questions were mainly just about my experience with the technology. Issue happened after the fact when they wanted a portfolio of my work including source code, which I cannot give from my former company. I sent a well thought out email with screenshots showing my work, explained I cannot give them source code, then they ghosted me. Extremely unprofessional to not even respond to a well thought out email. If side projects are a requirement for the job, the portfolio of work should have been the first step in the interview process to save us all time.
- Basic questions about experience with the technology they use

Very long process. It was a three month long process. Several levels of interviews over weeks of no activity. The feed back from each stage was positive and they keep you engaged but the process length caused me to lose out in other options.

I was strung along by a recruiter and then my interview got canceled at the last minute. It felt like a waste of my time. I was scheduled for the next round and it was canceled soon before.
- The interview with the recruiter was standard behavioral stuff, but it ultimately felt like a waste of my time. I was scheduled for the next round and it was canceled soon before.

It was a phone screen where you asked you how you heard about them and also detailed the responsiblility of the postion and also went over the work environment and pay rate.
- Are you familiar with word press

Collaborative, friendly process. Interview questions were well within the norm, some case study/ whiteboarding sessions. It seemed natural, not too scripted. Overall almost a little boring but that also tells you something.
- Motivational questions, problem solving skill examples
