I was initially excited to apply for an IT help desk position with Worksighted as it seems like a good company. But I've likely submitted over 100 applications for other positions, and just this week I had three other interviews, and I find it a bit remarkable that Worksighted is the only organization to reach out to me about a different position with wording to make it appear as if that's the position I applied to. I might call it bait and switch if this were a retail setting and I were a customer.
My qualifications exceed the stated qualifications for a candidate in help desk. But after requesting clarification as to why they responded about a job that I didn’t apply to, they said they're seeking more qualified applicants for the position I applied to. I think the more likely explanation is that "help desk" sounds better, so they're attracting more qualified applicants for their other positions via listings for positions that might be attractive to those more qualified applicants.
So, here's an example of what they didn't say.
"This position has been filled, but we have a different position that you might be interested in."
This is a standard email I've received more than a few times.
Instead, this is what they actually said.
"Thank you for your interest in joining our team at Worksighted in the role of Service Call Coordinator!"
Interested in a job that I didn't apply for? Well, no. Implying that I was initially interested in a job that I did not in fact apply for is unprofessional and confusing, which encouraged me to leave this review.
