Overall it was a long process. Yelp really takes their time in trying to make sure you are the right match to the company. Mainly, this manifests in multiple follow-up video interviews after the on-site. This approach is good and bad. Good is that they seem to be very thoughtful about your fit. Bad is that it can be an agonizing process if you are really interested in the role. Plus, we can probably safely assume that they are vetting many other candidates in parallel as well.
Here was the process:
* Phone screening with recruiter. Typical questions relating to your resume and interest in role.
* 1 on campus in-person interview with a PM.
* On-site interview where you talk with 4-5 people. Mostly you will talk with Group PMs and Head of Products.
* Potentially 1-3 ad hoc additional video interviews as you are vetted for specific teams.
Tips:
Know the product and show passion. Brainstorm all the potential metrics that a Yelp PM might be interested in and imagine how you would apply data-driven decision making for new features or market opportunities.
