I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zalando in Oct 2017
Interview
I applied in their website and received an email 3 weeks later, they wanted to make a phone interview and gave me the name of the person who would be interviewing me (Lead Buyer) and we arranged the time and everything. I didn't have any interview with HR, it was directly with the Lead Buyer and they explained that if I was one of the selected ones I would be going to a face-to-face interview in Berlin with HR. I read a lot of comments here in Glassdoor where people said the person who interviewed them were really friendly and nice so I think I was expecting something like that but that wasn't the case. The interview lasted around 20 minutes, it started with her briefly introducing herself and the position I applied, after that she started making questions to me which I thought would mainly be about my CV (my studies, previous experience, etc.) but she didn't ask anything about it. Her first question was 'What relevant experience you have that you think it would help you in the position of Junior Buyer for kids footwear?' so I replied to her about the experience I had as Junior buyer (I have experience in kids clothing but not in footwear) and explained her what I did but it seems that she didn't think that was something relevant because after I finished my answer she asked me the same question again... After that she made me other questions but I didn't appreciate her laugh after I said something, it happened like 2 or 3 times and I just didn't understand why, it felt disrespectful to me. To sum it up we didn't bond and after some questions she asked me if I had any questions to her so I asked her what was she looking for in a buyer, her answer was 'I'm looking for someone who already has experience as a Junior Buyer in kids footwear, someone who knows our competitors, kids footwear brands and who possibly has contacts with some of the brands'... After that I couldn't help thinking why did she call me then... when she sees in my CV that I clearly don't have experience in specifically kids footwear and that I'm not what she is looking for; after the call ended I obviously wasn't expecting to hear back from them and a week later I got an email saying I wasn't selected.
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
What relevant experience you have that you think it would help you in the position of Junior Buyer for kids footwear?
Have you visited our website? Which kids footwear brands do you think we should have but we don't? (she wanted brands who were dedicated to kids footwear only)
First the HR calls you via video call, then you have a second interview with the hiring manager, if you go on to the next stage you have a case study to be done and finally on the last interview you present to the hiring manager and head of the department.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Zalando (Berlin) in Jan 2020
Interview
Overall i feel the interview process at Zalando Lounge was prolonged for no apparent reason and overcomplicated. you have to go through 4 or more interviews just for a Junior Buyer role and meet all sort or people who you don't even interact with in your daily job. They give the impression they are too good while indeed, they are not.
