Infosys made a powerful mark at HackMIT, one of the world’s most prestigious student-run hackathons. As their key partner, we launched the challenge: Carbon-Conscious Intelligence-Building Smarter AI with a Smaller Footprint. With GenAI’s environmental impact growing rapidly, we invited 1000+ hackers to rethink how AI agents operate, balancing performance with sustainability. Thirty five teams took on the challenge. One of our fantastic mentors Parimala Mohan Rao led a packed workshop that overflowed with energy and curiosity. The winning solution, EcoAI, impressed with its drop-in SDK that rewrites prompts, prunes context, streamlines workflows, and routes inference to low-carbon regions, all while generating real-time Carbon Receipts. HackMIT 2025 was more than a hackathon, it was a movement toward sustainable innovation.
