Self-Discovery, Skills of Mind, Generosity of Heart. From the very beginning, Field is guided by its motto, Aude Sapere or "Dare to Be Wise."
The Field School was founded in 1972 by a teacher, Elizabeth C. Ely. The School originated in downtown Washington, DC, and is now housed in the former Cafritz Mansion in Northwest Washington, DC. Field is home to a diverse group of 90+ passionate faculty and staff and 350 students in grades 6-12. Field employees are lifelong learners who actively seek to grow and develop—both personally and professionally.
