Mission High-quality, cost-effective, professional services that preserve, organize, describe and connect you to the world's knowledge.
Description Backstage originally started almost 30 years ago converting physical card catalogs to data so that libraries could ingest that data into their systems to facilitate easier finding for their users and patrons. We've come a long way since then, gradually branching out in new and exciting directions. Our insistence on maintaining a high level of quality has never wavered. We recognize that we live and die on what we deliver to clients.
All of our work comes with an iron-clad guarantee: We will correct, at our expense, any problem that comes to light no matter when the problem is identified.
We started with Metadata work (card conversions, re-classification from one library system to another, cataloging), then we added Automated (authority control, machine matching, various enrichments, record de-duplication), followed by On-site (physical re-classification, application of RFID tags, inventory management, weeding, moving collections), then Digital (materials scanning and PDF creation) and Microfilm (preservation and storage of microfilm reels, fiche, and cards). We are a full-service operation staffed by people who have been with us for years, building up institutional knowledge and best practices.
Our clients are the best in the business: libraries, museums, archives, and special institutions which share the value of knowledge and seek to preserve or make that knowledge more accessible. Our staff are highly trained individuals with a strong culture of promoting from within and a project-management style focused on delivering quality service & products that meet schedule deadlines, do not exceed budget costs, and respond to the overall scope of the project.
Our employees have access to a self-insured health, dental and vision insurance policy where Backstage takes on 80% of the costs, resulting in tremendous savings over what employees would find on the open market. In addition to that, we have paid holidays, PTO accrual, 401k matching (with no vestment period), end of year profit-sharing, and a health & benefits plan with various activities throughout the year.
This is challenging work but if life is always easy, we're not learning and we're not progressing. Come join us and understand more about what we do.
