Description The Valley Baptist Health System (VBHS) provides medical, educational, and charitable services based on Christian values. The 850-bed system operates two Valley Baptist Medical Centers (VBMCs) in South Texas (one in Brownsville and one in Harlingen), both of which are Level III Trauma Centers. The health system also includes an outpatient surgery center, a fitness center, an imaging center, and a health plan provider, as well as home health, hospice, dialysis, and rehabilitation centers. Its educational offerings include a school of nursing and a family practice residency program. In 2011 VBHS formed a partnership with Vanguard Health Systems, which gained a controlling stake in the VBHS system through the deal.
